I am very impressed with the way you people build the haabjas (here in Flanders we say "boomstamkano") . As a woodcarver and working sometimes for musea making replica's ( so far 1 boat reconstruction , see archeosite.be )here in Belgium i do have a notion of the enormousamount of craftsmanship going into it. This deserves respect . Right now i am asked to make a working reconstruction of a locally found dugout canoe (3rd century BC)and it actually )looks quite like the haabjas.I learned a lot already seeing the u-tube pictures , but i believe nothing can beat the real experience , So i'll try to find a way to come to Sooma next summer .
